Experiencing the Garden From Inside the Home

Inside our homes, we naturally think about where our attention settles in a room and as we move from room to room, we become aware of the line of sight between rooms and how this works as part of the overall feel of our home.

We often experience our gardens in a similar way — not only by walking through them, but through the repeated views we have from inside our homes. Kitchen windows, patio doors, dining areas, conservatories, and upstairs rooms all create familiar sight lines into the garden throughout the day.

This is one of the reasons I find garden artworks so interesting within outdoor spaces. A carefully placed artwork can help create a stronger focal point within the garden, not only when we're outside, but when the space is viewed from indoors too — drawing our attention naturally and helping the garden feel more connected to the everyday experience of the home itself.

I’ve noticed this particularly with smaller gardens, where the relationship between indoors and outdoors feels much closer. A single artwork positioned near one of these sight lines can create a constant link between these two spaces even on rainy or cooler days when we may spend more time indoors.

For me, this is one of the many aspects I love about creating Frame and Foliage. Not only are we providing unique photographic artworks for outdoor spaces, but we're forging creative connections between the homes and gardens too.
